The Heart of Christmas is a movie that was made for TV in United States. It is a Christmas story that is about a family that has a child that is sick with cancer. The woman who is telling the story is Megan who has a husband named Walt and a daughter named Emma. Megan also has a son named Jackson. Megan has trouble with time management. She has a habit of not going to her daughter’s soccer games and she forgets all about Halloween. She convinces Emma watch her brother while trick-or-treating but, they are all surprised to see the neighborhood decked out for Christmas instead of Halloween. Puzzled she asks the neighbors why they are celebrating Christmas, they tell her about the Locke family’s return from the hospital. Their daughter has leukemia and they know that she may not survive since the survival rate is low. Her father, Austin is very worried but he is constantly looking for any type of treatment, refusing to lose hope. His wife, Julie, keeps a blog of her daughter’s progress as a way to not only cope with the knowledge of her daughter’s cancer, but also to keep everyone informed. They are on their way home after receiving the devastating news that their daughter did not respond to the treatments the doctors had given her and there is nothing more that the doctors can do. The doctors send them home to make her more comfortable. Dax is the little girl that has leukemia. She is a happy and hopeful child with a profound faith in God. Dax tries to keep her family’s faith alive even though they all know that she is going to die. Her father surprises her with a Christmas tree when they return from the hospital because he is determined to give her one last Christmas. The entire neighborhood also shows to give her one of the best remaining days of her life.
