The Hills Have Eyes is a horror-themed, cult-classic film about a family on the way to California. The family has misfortune of becoming stranded in the Nevada Desert with no signs of civilization for miles. They are attacked by a savage group of cannibals who have made the territory their own. The family consists of Bob, Ethel, Bobby, Brenda, Lynn, Doug, Katie, and their two pet dogs, Beauty and Beast. When the movie begins, the daughter of the cannibals, Ruby, is talking to her grandfather, Fred, at his gas station, and he refuses her food. Ruby wants Fred to take her with him and to protect her, but he would be in danger, too, if his son, Papa Jupiter knew of what she had done. When the van and car carrying the family breaks down, the father goes out for help to Fred's gas station and quickly learns of the cannibals. During this time, Papa Jupiter appears and kills Fred and takes Bob as a prisoner. One of the sons, Pluto, is scavenging through the van, even though some are sleeping in there. In the distance, the family hears Bob's screams and rushes to his defense. He dies, and the other cannibals rape Brenda and steal the baby, Katie. During a fight to the death with the cannibals, the lives of Ethel and Lynn are lost. Doug goes in search of his baby, while Bobby and Brenda are left to fend for themselves. Beauty is savagely killed by the cannibals and forced to be eaten by Ruby as her punishment. Mercury is ambushed and pushed off a high cliff by Beast. Pluto is decapitated by Beast, while Papa Jupiter is killed in a booby trap made by Brenda and Bobby. In the end, Ruby knocks out Mama to save the baby and escapes with her into the hills. Doug catches up to them, although Mars has followed and tries to kill Doug. Ruby distracts Mars and allows Doug to kill him because of all the wrongs her family has committed.
