The Little Mermaid is an animated musical fantasy film that was released by Walt Disney Pictures in 1989. It tells the story of a young mermaid named Ariel who longs to explore the human world and falls in love with a human prince named Eric. The movie starts with Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton, a powerful and stern merman ruling the underwater kingdom, who is fascinated by the human world and collects various human artifacts. She is also a passionate singer, and often goes to the surface of the ocean to listen to the human music and to sing herself.

When Ariel saves Eric from drowning during a storm, she becomes even more curious about the human world and decides to visit Ursula, an evil sea witch, who agrees to turn Ariel into a human in exchange for her voice. The catch is that Ariel must make Eric fall in love with her and kiss her within three days, or she will lose her soul and become Ursula's prisoner forever.

Ariel, now transformed into a human, is taken in by Eric's crew and begins to spend time with him. She can't speak but communicates with Eric using gestures and facial expressions. With the help of her friends, Flounder, a fish, and Sebastian, a crab, who follow Ariel to the surface and try to protect her despite their disagreement with her decision of becoming human, Ariel attempts to win Eric's heart.

Meanwhile, Ursula, who is actually Triton's sister, uses Ariel's voice to lure Eric towards her and put her evil plan into motion. This leads to a thrilling showdown between Ursula, Triton, and Eric, with Ariel's fate hanging in the balance.

Apart from the captivating story, The Little Mermaid is famous for its music, which includes catchy songs like "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea," and "Kiss the Girl." The film won two Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Original Score and was also nominated for Best Original Song for "Under the Sea."

Jeff Bennett voices the character of Grimsby, Eric's loyal servant and royal advisor, in the movie. Bennett is an American voice actor best known for his work in television and animated films. He has lent his voice to many popular characters, including Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Dad, and the Joker in various Batman animated films and shows.

In addition to Jeff Bennett's role, the film also features the voices of famous actors, including Jodi Benson as Ariel, Pat Carroll as Ursula, Samuel E. Wright as Sebastian, and Christopher Daniel Barnes as Eric.

Overall, The Little Mermaid is a timeless classic that has enchanted generations of viewers with its magical story, lovable characters, and unforgettable music. It is a must-watch for anyone who loves Disney movies and believes in the power of true love.
