This is an animated movie about a young troll who does not fit in. The king and queen of the Troll Kingdom are worried he will influence other young trolls.
Trolls are not nice creatures. They never say please, or thank you, or have good thoughts for people. They love no one but themselves, if at all. They are loud, noisy, nasty creatures. When one of them is well behaved and nice, the king begins an investigation.
He and the queen decide this troll must be tossed into the outside world. They want him to have a hard life so he will understand the way trolls act. The young troll ends up in a human house during the Christmas season.
