This drama is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Carson McCullers. Frankie Addams is a 12-year old tomboy living in the South who feels alienated from everyone except the family's black maid Berenice, and Frankie's six-year old cousin John. When Frankie's brother decides to marry, Frankie sees it as her best and last chance to escape her current circumstances and accompany them on an adventure when they honeymoon in Alaska.
