The Warriors are a gang on the run. The gangs in New York will see them dead for killing Cyrus, the charismatic leader of the Gramercy Riffs. Did the Warriors do it, or were they framed? Luther, leader of the Rogues knows for sure. Cyrus was about to call a gang truce when he was killed during a late night summit. Regardless, New York City's night breed have condemned the Warriors as guilty. A local DJ announced the verdict on the radio in the form of a song request. Against nearly insurmountable odds, the Warriors must survive the night and the wrath of the other gangs. From the Bronx to Manhattan there are obvious and hidden dangers. The path to Coney Island is perilous. The only thing they can count on is that Luther, leader of the Rogues, is out to get them.

During the journey, Warrior Swan meets Mercy, and they immediately dislike each other. A couple on their way from prom appear as the mirror image of Swan and Mercy if only their lives were less complicated. This movie reveals the gritty underbelly of seventies gang life.
