Un indien dans la ville, released in 1994, is a French adventure-comedy movie that takes viewers on a hilarious and heartwarming journey through the bustling city of Paris. The story revolves around Stephen, a father who has spent the last few years living in the Amazon as a botanist and had a son with a local woman who had passed away. As a result, Stephen is bringing his son, Mimi-Siku, to Paris for the first time.

Mimi-Siku is a young boy whose life so far has been spent in a small Amazonian jungle village, and he sees the world through the lens of the customs and traditions of his tribe. After arriving in Paris, he is fascinated by the modern technology and lifestyle in the city as it is all so new to him. However, Mimi-Siku struggles to adapt to life in the city, and his father struggles to explain the foreign and complex culture to him.

Things take an unexpected turn when Stephen's boss assigns him an important task of getting permission from a wealthy businessman to venture into a protected region of the Amazon rainforest for research purposes. Stephen sees this as an excellent opportunity to show his worth to his boss and also teach Mimi-Siku about his father's world.

Stephen decides that the best way to impress the businessman and gain his permission is to invite him over for dinner, and this is where the movie turns into a hilarious comedy of errors. The trio tries their best to introduce Mimi-Siku to the customs of Parisian society, but his tribal upbringing leads to hilarious and awkward situations, such as him trying to offer a gift of a live bird or running through the museum, frightened by the taxidermied animals.

Mimi-Siku quickly sets about adapting to his new surroundings and makes some friends in the city. Through these friendships, he learns some important lessons about life and the people around him. One such friend is Sophie, a young girl who is fascinated by Mimi-Siku's Amazonian roots and is eager to help him learn about his new environment.

Throughout the movie, the viewers are treated to some breathtaking shots of Paris, highlighting the differences in the way of life between Mimi-Siku's Amazonian village and Paris. The movie excels in showcasing cultural differences, such as the Amazonians' beliefs in the importance of nature, the importance of a tribe's chief, and the value they place on family life. The city life, too, contrasts starkly, with its hustle and bustle, neon lights, and anonymous crowds.

Un indien dans la ville is a heartwarming comedy-drama that explores the challenges of adapting to a new culture, the complexities of raising a child from a different background, and the importance of friendship and acceptance. The charm of Ludwig Briand's performance as Mimi-Siku, along with the comedic talent of Thierry Lhermitte and Patrick Timsit, makes for an enjoyable and memorable viewing experience.
