Tracy 'Tre' Stokes (Nick Cannon) is supposed to be a bike cop in California, however, his instincts are getting the better of him and he is taking matters in his own hands. Acting on a tip, he approaches some street criminals and attempts to purchase some stolen property from them. As he gets ready to seal the deal, his cover is blown by a vagrant, and the thugs make a run for it. What takes place next is a chase through the streets, as he attempts to corner his prey before taking them into custody, but not before most of the evidence is destroyed in an explosion.
When a student turns up dead in a school for rich kids, the powers that be, need some answers and Stokes offers to help solve the case. He is less than enthusiastic when he is told that he must go under cover as a student.
Stokes is finding that school is no easier the second time around, in fact he is already being called into the principals office and being threatened with expulsion for cheating on a test. Stokes is unable to break the ice with some of the other students, and even a basketball game that he helps them win does not do the job.
Following up on a tip, and the belief that a crime was getting ready to go down, Stokes jumps the gun and manages to foil an undercover operation by the DEA. Captain Victor Delgado (Cheech Marin) is disappointed with his actions and gives him one last chance to make it right.
After finding out that an expensive Jaguar was stolen from his friends house, Stokes takes his investigation in a whole new direction involving car theft. Marcos Siega Directs this action comedy, with supporting roles by Kelly Hu as officer Brooks, Shawn Ashmore as Rob Donovan and Angelo Spizzirri as David Boscoe.
