Frozen is a 2010 thriller film that follows the story of three friends — Dan, Parker, and Joe — who are on a ski trip to a New England resort. The trip takes an unexpected turn when the trio gets stuck on the ski lift, 50 feet above the ground, with no rescue crew in sight. Dan (Shawn Ashmore) is the cautious and somewhat neurotic friend who is constantly worried about his girlfriend, Parker (Emma Bell). Parker, on the other hand, is the adventurous and impulsive type who is always pushing Dan out of his comfort zone. Joe (Kevin Zegers) is the comic relief of the group who is always trying to inject some fun into their routine.

As night falls, the temperature drops sharply, and the friends come to realize that they are facing a life-and-death situation. They are stranded on the ski lift, with no food, water or warmth, and the resort is closing for the week, which means they are unlikely to be rescued for at least five days.

As their situation gets more precarious, the three friends must rely on one another to make it through the bitterly cold nights. They start to bicker and argue, each blaming the other for their predicament, and they begin to face some very difficult decisions.

The film's strongest point is the stark realism it portrays. The harshness of the conditions, the desperation of the situation, and the psychological toll it takes on the characters all come across as genuine and compelling. The characters, while not always likable, are well-drawn and realistic, making it easy to empathize with their struggles.

The cinematography is another major strength of the movie, with director Adam Green creating a palpable sense of claustrophobia and isolation with the use of the narrow, enclosed space of the ski lift. The use of panoramic shots of the surrounding mountains and snowscapes also adds to the bleak and foreboding atmosphere of the film.

In terms of performances, the three lead actors, Ashmore, Bell, and Zegers, do an excellent job of conveying the desperation, fear, and frustration of their characters. The chemistry between them is palpable, and their relationships feel genuine, adding to the film's emotional impact.

While the film does have some minor flaws, such as a few unrealistic plot points, these are forgivable in the context of the suspenseful and tense drama that Green has created. The film's ending is also satisfying, offering a satisfying conclusion to the trio's harrowing ordeal.

Overall, Frozen is a tense and emotionally charged thriller that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. It's a testament to the power of minimalist filmmaking, relying on strong performances, tight direction, and a gripping script to create a cinematic masterpiece.
