In the superhero fantasy sequel Wonder Woman 1984, the Amazonian hero must face off against two new villains. Diana Prince, the secret identity of Wonder Woman, is working as a museum curator who handles ancient artifacts. She's well suited to the job considering that she's something of an ancient artifact herself. As Diana is trying to keep her identity a secret, she manages to occasionally save the world without revealing herself. But when two new supervillains enter, she is suddenly facing a higher profile conflict. Maxwell Lord is your typical evil bad guy out for world domination. Cheetah is a more colorful villain. She's a super-powered foe with cat-like speed and strength. Wonder Woman 1984 debuted in December 1984 during the coronavirus pandemic. At the time of its release, many US movie theaters were not open for business. The movie was set to open on Christmas Day in a limited number of theaters. On the same day, it was scheduled to debut on HBO Max. That made it the first mega-budget potential blockbuster to begin streaming at the same time it debuted in theaters.
