Carriers is a horror and science-fiction film that follows the plight of a group of friends struggling to survive in an apocalyptic world. After a virus wipes out the majority of the world's population, brothers Brian and Danny embark on a journey with Brian's girlfriend, Bobby, and Danny's friend, Kate. With hope that their childhood vacation spot, Turtle Beach, is unaffected, the young adults set off to evade the virus. Although the foursome sets out with a set goal, their journey us caught off course when they encounters a father and daughter who are searching for a cure for the young girl's infection. The characters are wary but take the family's vehicle and seek help. To the group's dismay, Bobby becomes attached to the daughter and sets off a chain of events that unravels their plans. With their new companions, the friends travel to a nearby school for the antidote but realize that the virus is more powerful than anyone could imagine. The friends and siblings turn against each other with mistrust and the unwavering desire to stay alive. After reaching a hotel with hope to acquire important supplies, the group is ambushed by militant survivors and must fight to survive both the pandemic and human interference. A series of tragic events unfold for the foursome as they slowly become carriers of the virus, and after more graphic encounters with survivors, their happy ending appears bleak and impossible. Bobby and Brian's relationship is put to the test with their their miscommunication and different outlooks on the infected. Younger Danny serves as the peacemaker for the two's turmoil, yet his emotions and feelings for Kate consistently get in the way of his plans. The group struggles with the fight against compassion and protection in the face of despair. Carriers is the story of one group's quest for survival with basic human needs and the battle for hierarchy while facing the apocalypse.
