Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead is a 2009 horror film that continues the franchise started with the original Wrong Turn movie in 2003. This installment is directed by Declan O'Brien and stars Tom Frederic, Janet Montgomery, Gil Kolirin, and Christian Contreras. The movie centers around a group of prisoners being transported through the backwoods of West Virginia when their bus crashes, leaving them stranded in a remote forest. While attempting to find a way out, they quickly realize they are being stalked and hunted by a group of inbred, cannibalistic hillbillies who have no intention of letting them leave alive. Tom Frederic plays Nate, a former soldier and the de facto leader of the group of prisoners. Janet Montgomery plays Alex, a tough and resourceful female prisoner who quickly establishes herself as Nate's second-in-command. Gil Kolirin plays Floyd, a nerdy computer expert who tries to use his skills to help the group escape. Christian Contreras plays Willy, a gang member with a chip on his shoulder who clashes with Nate early on. As the group tries to find a way out of the forest, they encounter a series of gruesome traps and obstacles set by the hillbillies. Along the way, they pick up another survivor, a park ranger named Amanda (played by Tamer Hassan), who has been on the run from the hillbillies for years. As the body count rises and the survivors are forced to make desperate choices to stay alive, tensions mount between the prisoners and their differing personalities and backgrounds come into play. Meanwhile, the hillbillies continue to close in, with no intention of letting any of them escape. Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead features plenty of gore and jump scares, as well as some surprisingly colorful characters and tense interplay between the survivors. The hillbillies themselves are appropriately chilling and grotesque, with a variety of gruesome weapons and tactics at their disposal to take down the group. Overall, the movie delivers on the expectations set by the previous installments in the franchise, providing plenty of suspense, scares, and gruesome deaths for horror fans to enjoy.
