Yamagola is a Telugu movie from 1977 that boasts an ensemble cast led by N.T. Rama Rao, Jaya Prada, and Kaikala Satyanarayana. The film is a fantasy-comedy that draws on mythology and features a vibrant mix of music, dance, and drama. The story of Yamagola revolves around the lives of Raja (N.T. Rama Rao) and his best friend Ramu (Allu Ramalingaiah). Raja is a happy-go-lucky person who lives life on his own terms, while Ramu is more serious and responsible. While wandering in the forest, the two friends come across an old man who reveals that he is a divine messenger from the kingdom of Yama (the god of death).

The old man informs the duo that the people of Yama's kingdom are facing a severe food shortage and are in dire need of help. He then hands them a box of magical seeds and instructs them to plant them in a particular spot. However, when the two friends return to the spot where they were supposed to plant the seeds, they find that the location is already occupied by another plant. They plant the magical seeds anyway, and to their surprise, the plant grows into a giant tree overnight.

When Raja and Ramu climb up the tree, they are transported to the kingdom of Yama. There, they are welcomed by Yama (Satyanarayana), who gives them a tour of his kingdom. The friends soon discover that the food shortage is a result of a curse inflicted by a vengeful sage named Durvasa (Kakarala). Durvasa, angered by Yama's arrogance, placed a curse on his kingdom that turned everything to stone, including the food crops.

Raja and Ramu, with the help of Yama and his daughter (Jaya Prada), set out to lift the curse and end the food shortage. They embark on a series of adventures, facing various obstacles and challenges along the way. The film features memorable sequences such as a fight with a giant serpent and a dance-off between Raja and a demon.

The film's strong suit is its humor, which is balanced well with the fantasy and action elements. The dynamic between Raja and Ramu is particularly enjoyable, with their contrasting personalities adding to the film's comedic charm. The performances by the lead actors are top-notch, with N.T. Rama Rao stealing the show with his effortless comic timing.

The film's music, composed by Chakravarthy, is another strong point. The songs, particularly "Nippulanti Manishi" and "Nolambaralu" are catchy and memorable, and the dance choreography, by Sundaram and Vaidyanathan, is impressive.

Yamagola is a film that has stood the test of time, and is still remembered fondly by audiences. Its appeal lies in its whimsical story, memorable characters, and energetic performances, making it a must-watch for fans of Telugu cinema.

Yamagola is a 1977 comedy with a runtime of 2 hours and 29 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.7.
