In this romantic drama, Vanavarayan is a chieftain during feudal times who is admired and respected by the people in his village. His sworn enemy is Vallavaraayan, who intends to marry Vaitheeswari, the woman who Vanavarayan is also in love with. Vanavarayan conspires with the local temple priest to give Vallavaraayan a potion that renders him sterile. Vaitheeswari, however, pretends to become pregnant with his child, and is so distraught about her situation that she makes a life-changing decision that is fueled by her grief.
