Ep 1. Episode 1
In Episode 1 of A Korean Odyssey, we are introduced to a world filled with demons and gods. We open on a young boy named Son Oh-gong, who is imprisoned for his mischievous ways. After being locked up for several hundred years, he finally sees a way out through a prophecy that promises him freedom if he helps a young girl named Jin Seon-mi. Seon-mi is the only one who can release him from his prison and so Oh-gong sets off on his mission to find her.
Seon-mi is a high school student who is convinced she can see ghosts. However, unlike most people, she doesn't seem to fear them. In fact, she seems to be in tune with the supernatural world around her. When Son Oh-gong first meets her, she is working as a real estate agent, showing off a house that is rumored to be haunted. Oh-gong takes interest in her and quickly realizes that she is the one he has been searching for.
Son Oh-gong is not the only one interested in Seon-mi. We are also introduced to another demon named Winter General who has a personal vendetta against her. Winter General is determined to kill Seon-mi and claim her as his own, despite Oh-gong's best efforts to keep her safe. Along the way, we also meet a variety of other gods and demons, each with their own unique abilities and motivations.
As the episode progresses, we see Son Oh-gong's relationship with Jin Seon-mi start to develop. Although he is initially aloof and dismissive of her, he soon warms up to her and begins to see her as more than just a tool to help him gain his freedom. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and sets the stage for an interesting dynamic throughout the rest of the series.
Overall, Episode 1 of A Korean Odyssey does an excellent job of setting the stage for the rest of the series. It introduces us to a complex world filled with demons, gods, and humans with unique abilities. Through the interaction between Son Oh-gong and Jin Seon-mi, we see the potential for a compelling romantic storyline, while the threat of Winter General keeps us on the edge of our seats. With strong performances from the cast and high production values, this episode leaves us eager to see what the rest of the series has in store.
