Titled "The New Zoos," the episode takes us around the globe to visit some of the most innovative and ethical zoological institutions.

Alda begins his journey in San Diego, California at the world-renowned San Diego Zoo. There, he meets with zookeepers and experts to learn about the latest in animal husbandry and conservation efforts. He discovers how zoos have shifted from collections of animals for entertainment to institutions dedicated to conservation and education.

Next, Alda travels to Singapore to visit the Night Safari, the world's first nocturnal zoo. The Night Safari allows visitors to see animals that are typically only active at night, like the Malayan tiger and the clouded leopard. Alda is fascinated by the innovative technology that allows visitors to experience the animals' nocturnal behaviors without disturbing them.

In Hong Kong, Alda meets with the director of the city's Ocean Park, one of the few remaining urban zoos. Despite being surrounded by skyscrapers, the park is home to over 12,000 animals, including pandas and dolphins. Alda learns how the park is working to protect the region's native biodiversity while also entertaining visitors.

Alda then heads to the United Arab Emirates to visit the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. With over 300 species on display, the Dubai Aquarium has quickly become one of the world's most popular aquariums. Alda learns how the aquarium is working to educate visitors about the threats facing our oceans and how individual actions can make a difference.

Finally, Alda visits the Bronx Zoo in New York City, one of the oldest zoos in America. The zoo is home to over 6,000 animals, and Alda discovers how the Bronx Zoo is leading the way in using technology to improve animal care. He visits the zoo's animal hospital and meets with veterinarians to see firsthand how technology is being used to diagnose and treat animal ailments.

Throughout the episode, Alda speaks with experts in animal behavior, biology, and preservation to gain a better understanding of the role zoos play in conservation efforts. He learns how zoos around the world have adapted and improved over time to better serve both the animals and visitors. The New Zoos is a fascinating look at just how far zoos have come and what the future may hold for these important institutions.
