All American is an American sports drama television series that premiered on The CW on October 10, 2018. The series is inspired by the life of professional American football player Spencer Paysinger. The show follows the story of a high school football player from South Los Angeles named Spencer James, who is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High School after his successful career at Crenshaw High School. In Episode 2 of the first season, entitled "99 Problems", Spencer is trying to adjust to his new school and his new team, but he's struggling with the pressure of being the only player from South LA on the Beverly Hills team. Meanwhile, his mother is trying to make a name for herself in local politics, and his old friend Coop is dealing with some serious problems.

The episode starts with Spencer getting ready for his first game with the Beverly Hills team. He's nervous, but his new teammates are supportive, especially quarterback Jordan Baker, who is the son of the Beverly Hills coach, Billy Baker. As they prepare for the game, Spencer overhears some of the Beverly Hills players making racist comments about him and his old school, Crenshaw. He's angry, but he tries to put it aside and focus on the game.

At the game, Spencer struggles to perform, partly because he's used to a different style of playing, and partly because he's still adjusting to his new team. He makes a crucial mistake that costs them a touchdown, and the coach is furious. Coach Baker is a complicated character; he's alternately supportive and harsh, and Spencer can't figure him out. He's also dealing with the pressure of living up to his legacy as a star quarterback at Crenshaw High, and he's worried that he won't be able to do as well at Beverly Hills.

Meanwhile, Spencer's mother, Grace, is trying to make a name for herself in local politics. She's running for a position on the school board, and she's determined to win. Her husband, Corey, is skeptical, and he's worried that her ambitions will come at the expense of their family. Grace is a strong-willed and intelligent woman, but she's also vulnerable, and she's struggling to balance her career ambitions with her responsibilities as a mother and a wife.

Elsewhere, Jordan Baker is dealing with a personal crisis. He's been dating his girlfriend for a long time, but he's been keeping a secret from her. He's worried that if he tells her, she'll leave him, but he knows he can't keep it from her forever. This subplot adds an extra layer of tension to the episode and sets up some interesting character dynamics for future episodes.

Overall, Episode 2 of All American is an engaging and well-crafted hour of television. The show does an excellent job of balancing its sports drama elements with its character-driven storytelling, and it builds on the strong foundation established in the pilot episode. The performances are uniformly excellent, and the writing is sharp and nuanced. Fans of sports dramas and character-driven storytelling should definitely give All American a try.
