Ten years prior to head coach Don Coryell's arrival, the San Diego Chargers have only known losing. Coach Coryell's passion for football and love of his players created the ideal marriage between tactics and talent; and the Chargers were finally winning. The story of the Chargers climb to glory is best told by three men: quarterback Dan Fouts, running back Hank Bauer, and tight end Kellen Winslow. Their playoff appearance started in a miraculous, hard fought and injury-ridden win against Miami. The Chargers Super Bowl run was stopped by the chilling temperatures in Cincinnati. The Chargers may have never been able to step into the group of NFL's elite, but the 1981 Chargers will be remembered as a team that gave it their all, had fun doing it and will not be forgotten.
