Ep 11. Change the World

After being accused of stealing food, Yui is given a punishment of cleaning the guild's lounge. There, she stumbles upon a guitar and decides to learn to play. However, as she struggles with the instrument, she begins to remember her life before her death.

In the meantime, Otonashi tries to devise a plan to change the world and finally free everyone from their purgatory. He rallies everyone together to share their dreams for life and their regrets for not being able to leave a mark on the world. During this exchange, the group realizes that their memories of life fade away the longer they stay in this purgatory.

Otonashi is determined to find a way out before any more of their memories disappear, and he comes up with a plan to use the band that Yui has formed to draw out Angel. After a few false starts, the plan finally comes to fruition, and Angel arrives to hear the group's music.

As Yui plays her guitar and the others sing, Angel begins to cry and has a flashback of her past life. Moved by the music and their stories, Angel reveals a shocking truth about the nature of their purgatory and the cruelty of the person who created it.

The episode ends with the group more determined than ever to change the world and find a way out of their limbo.
