Captain Peacock bribes the choir to sing carols outside Mr. Rumbold's window in the middle of the night, so that Mr. Rumbold will be too tired to come into work the next day.

As the day goes on, chaos ensues in the store. The staff is having trouble keeping up with the number of customers who come in to do their Christmas shopping. In addition, the store's Santa Claus gets himself drunk and is unable to perform his duties. The staff must scramble to find a replacement before the children become disappointed.
