Ep 7. Prison Break-In

Michael Bluth is a man on a mission. He'll do whatever it takes to keep his family out of prison, even if it means breaking into a prison.

In this episode of Arrested Development season 3, appropriately titled Prison Break-In, Michael learns that his father, George Sr., is planning on cutting a plea deal with the government. The problem is that the deal involves him turning in his entire family, which would mean that everyone, including Michael, would be going to prison.

Determined to stop this from happening, Michael decides to break into the prison and convince his father to take back the deal. He enlists the help of his brother Gob, for his magic skills, and his sister Lindsay, who is disguised as an old man.

Things don't go as planned, as they rarely do in the Bluth family. Gob accidentally leaves his magic kit behind, which is found by a group of prisoners. Chaos ensues as they use the kit to escape from their cells and wreak havoc on the prison.

Meanwhile, George Sr. is dealing with his own issues inside the prison. He's being blackmailed by a guard who has evidence that he was involved in a previous prison break. If he doesn't give the guard money, the guard will tell the warden and he'll be thrown into solitary confinement.

Michael eventually finds his father and convinces him to take back the plea deal. However, they're both caught by the guard and thrown in a cell together. They're forced to work together to escape before they're caught by the warden.

This episode is filled with the signature wackiness and absurdity that fans of Arrested Development have come to love. From Gob's terrible magic tricks to Lindsay's hilarious old man disguise, there's never a dull moment.

What sets this episode apart, however, is the emotional weight that comes with Michael and George Sr.'s relationship. Despite all of the chaos, at its core, Arrested Development is a show about family. Michael may be frustrated with his father's actions, but he still cares about him and will do whatever it takes to protect him. It's this bond that makes the show so endearing.
