Werewolves of Highland/ Crying is the fourth season premiere episode of the animated sitcom Beavis and Butt-Head. It continues the hilarious misadventures of the two dim-witted teenagers as they navigate through life in the fictional town of Highland.
The episode begins with Beavis and Butt-Head hanging out, as always, at their favorite local haunt, the Maxi-Mart. They are engaged in their usual activities of making crude jokes, mocking the customers, and obsessing over heavy metal music videos that they watch on the store's television screens.
However, an unexpected turn of events takes place when a strange individual brings a crate full of old silver jewelry into the Maxi-Mart. The boys overhear the excitement surrounding the ancient artifacts and, being drawn to anything that might bring them fortune, decide to investigate further.
As they explore the mysterious crate, Beavis discovers a silver pendant in the shape of a beast's head. Intrigued by its werewolf-like design, he eagerly puts it on, not realizing the potential consequences that could come with wearing it. Unbeknownst to them, the pendant possesses supernatural powers that will transform the wearer into a werewolf when the full moon rises.
Excited by their newfound "werewolf" identity, Beavis and Butt-Head embark on a rampage through Highland, howling at the moon and causing chaos wherever they go. Unaware of their actual human appearance, the duo believes they have transformed into unstoppable creatures of the night. They terrorize the town, scaring their neighbors and even challenging the local law enforcement.
Meanwhile, Highland experiences a surge of panic and paranoia due to the so-called "werewolf" attacks. The town's residents arm themselves with garlic, silver bullets, and other traditional werewolf deterrents as they fearfully lock themselves indoors. The chaos escalates as the news spreads, and the situation becomes a top story for the local television news.
Amid the frenzy, a reporter interviews the boys' neighbor, Daria, who offers her usual sarcastic and scathing commentary on the town's mass hysteria. Unimpressed by the werewolf rumors and the town's reaction, Daria provides sharp-witted observations that highlight the absurdity of the situation.
As the full moon looms closer, Beavis and Butt-Head's excitement turns into a desperate hurry to find a way to reverse their supposed transformation. They realize that they may not be the unstoppable and fearsome werewolves they initially thought. Instead, they are just unwitting teenagers, wreaking havoc while wearing a piece of silver jewelry.
On their quest for acceptance, the boys stumble upon a cheesy late-night B-movie marathon hosted by the eccentric Uncle Nutty, who claims to possess supernatural knowledge. Desperate for answers, Beavis and Butt-Head visit Uncle Nutty's studio to seek his help in reversing the werewolf curse.
Inside the dimly lit studio, a series of comical events unfolds as the duo tries to convince Uncle Nutty of their werewolf predicament. True to his eccentric nature, Uncle Nutty conducts a series of weird rituals and recites exaggerated incantations aimed at undoing the boys' "transformation."
Back in Highland, the frantic search for the supposed werewolves continues. The local authorities form a lynch mob, determined to capture the teenage beasts and put an end to the chaos. The episode concludes with Beavis and Butt-Head desperately trying to outrun the mob, all the while struggling to remove the pendant and revert back to their normal selves.
Werewolves of Highland/ Crying, with its signature blend of crude humor and exaggerated antics, showcases Beavis and Butt-Head at their hilariously delusional best. As the episode unfolds, it masterfully satirizes the irrationality of mob mentality and the power of delusions, all while keeping fans entertained with the dynamic duo's nonsensical escapades.
