In this episode of Classic Doctor Who, the TARDIS materializes in 17th century England, where the Doctor and his companions, Adric, Nyssa, and Tegan, are immediately embroiled in an alien conspiracy. The villagers in the nearby town of Heathrow are being terrorized by a mysterious figure in black, who they believe to be a reaper or plague carrier. The truth, however, is far more sinister than anyone could have imagined.
As the Doctor delves deeper into the mystery, he encounters a group of time travelers who have also arrived in the past, but with a very different agenda. They are Terileptils, a race of advanced aliens who are planning to use a deadly virus to wipe out all of humanity and take over the planet. In order to do this, they have been working with a human accomplice, the landlord of the local inn, who is helping them to carry out their plans.
As the story unfolds, the Doctor and his companions find their lives constantly in danger as they try to thwart the Terileptils' plan and save the village from destruction. Along the way, they encounter a number of interesting characters, including Richard Mace, an actor turned highwayman who becomes unwittingly involved in the conspiracy, and Charles Cranleigh, a former companion of the Doctor's who has been trapped in the past as a result of his own travels.
There are plenty of twists and turns in this episode, as the Doctor tries to unravel the complex web of intrigue that is threatening to destroy not only the village of Heathrow, but the entire planet. With action, suspense, and plenty of humor, The Visitation: Part 1 is a classic episode of Doctor Who that is not to be missed.
