Classic Doctor Who Season 6 Episode 18 The Invasion: Episode 8

The Invasion: Episode 8 is the final installment of the six-part story arc that follows the exploits of the Second Doctor and his companions as they try to stop the Cybermen from taking over the world. The previous seven episodes have seen the Doctor and his allies infiltrate the Cybermen's secret base in London and sabotage their plans to launch an aerial assault on the world's major cities.

As the episode opens, the Doctor and his companions are still in the underground Cyberman base, trying to find a way to stop the Cybermen's invasion. They have already destroyed the air control tower that was to be used by the Cybermen to direct their invasion, and have sabotaged the Cybermen's missile launch facility.

The Doctor and his companions split up to cover more ground: Jamie and Zoe go to the control room to try and shut down the Cybermen's computer systems, while the Doctor goes to the sewers to locate a hidden entrance to the Cybermen's main base.

Meanwhile, on the surface, the military has launched their own attack against the Cybermen, using bazookas, grenades, and machine guns to try and destroy the Cybermen's troops and vehicles. However, the Cybermen are too powerful for conventional weapons, and the military's attack only serves to delay the Cybermen's advance for a short time.

Back in the Cybermen's base, Jamie and Zoe successfully shut down the Cybermen's computer systems, but they are soon captured by the Cybermen and taken prisoner. The Doctor, who has discovered the secret entrance to the Cybermen's base, also infiltrates the base and manages to rescue Jamie, Zoe, and a group of scientists who were being held captive by the Cybermen.

With all of the Cybermen's plans in ruins, the Doctor orders his companions and the scientists to evacuate the base, while he stays behind to destroy the Cybermen's control center. The Doctor succeeds in his mission, but is nearly killed in the process.

With the Cybermen's invasion thwarted, the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe return to the TARDIS and take off for their next adventure. However, as they depart, a group of UNIT soldiers arrive on the scene and take possession of some of the Cybermen's technology, hinting that future battles with the Cybermen may be on the horizon.

The Invasion: Episode 8 is a thrilling conclusion to the story arc, with plenty of action, drama, and suspense. The Doctor and his companions are at their best, using their wits and ingenuity to outsmart the Cybermen and save the world from destruction. Fans of classic Doctor Who will not be disappointed by this exciting episode.
