Fred has to stand in for Tyrone to give the best man's speech when last minute nerves get the better of him. The speech is a success, as is that of Yvonne (Claire's mother) who tells everyone that decisions are hard to make but Claire has made the right one today! After Katy's shock proposal earlier, Martin is left a little unsettled and bites Tyrone's head off when he's approached to do the best man's speech. Later, Martin explains to Katy that he's not ready to get married and that if they did choose to get married he'd want them to make the decision together. Karen can't quite believe what she's hearing. It takes some convincing by Steve to get her to leave but eventually she does so. She tells Steve that she'll go and stay with a mate. Although he doesn't show it in front of Karen, Steve is clearly devastated by her departure - he breaks down in tears when she's gone out the door . . .
