- May 26, 2006
Carla prepares to leave for London, but her plans are put on hold when Sarah goes into early labour with baby Bethany. Amy is left traumatised after witnessing Sarah's collapse and she is finally coaxed out of the backyard by her father to be with her mother in the hospital.
As Sarah is rushed in for an emergency caesarean section, Gail panics and tries to contact Todd to inform him about the situation. Meanwhile, Sean and David arrive at the hospital to show their support for the distraught family. In a state of shock, David is having difficulty processing the gravity of the situation, while Sean takes on the role of comforting his friends.
Back at the Platt household, Gail tries desperately to reach Todd, unaware that he has left Weatherfield. Meanwhile, Angela and Katy wait anxiously for news about Sarah and the baby. When Gail finally manages to reach Todd, she tearfully informs him of Sarah's condition. Todd is crushed by the news and feels immense guilt for not being there for Sarah when she needed him the most.
At the hospital, Sarah's surgery is successful, and she gives birth to a healthy baby girl named Bethany. Gail, David, Sean, and the rest of the family are relieved and overjoyed by the arrival of the newest member of the Platt clan. However, the joy is dampened by the absence of Todd, who would have been ecstatic about becoming a father.
Carla, who postponed her trip due to Sarah's predicament, confides in Liam about her fears and doubts regarding her decision to leave. Liam offers a listening ear and advises her to follow her heart, even if it means altering her plans. Carla appreciates his support and takes his words to heart, leading her to reconsider her departure.
In another corner of Weatherfield, Fiz continues to struggle with her emotions as she mourns the loss of her father. She seeks solace in the arms of her mother, Cilla, who has returned to the street for his funeral. Cilla tries to comfort Fiz, but their complicated relationship adds to the already heavy atmosphere.
While the residents of Weatherfield deal with their personal turmoil, Rita takes center stage in the Rovers, where she organizes a special auction in memory of Fiz's father. The community comes together to raise funds for a charity close to Fiz's heart, providing some much-needed light in the midst of the darkness that hangs over the street.
As the day unfolds, Sally and Kevin face a setback in their plans to build an extension for their house. A complication with the builders they hired puts their project on hold and leaves the pair frustrated and overwhelmed. With tensions rising, they must find a way to resolve the issue without jeopardizing their relationship or their dream home.
The episode comes to an end with a bittersweet tone. Sarah and Bethany are on the road to recovery, but Todd's absence remains a painful reminder of the challenges they face. Carla, torn between her dreams and her responsibilities, makes a decision that could change the course of her future. The street continues to navigate the ups and downs of life, finding strength in the face of adversity and the power of community.
