Ep 3. The Black Tower, Part 1

In the third episode of season 1 of Dalgliesh titled "The Black Tower, Part 1", we see detective Adam Dalgliesh investigating a mysterious death at a Norfolk cottage hospital which leads him to the ominous Black Tower. The plot thickens when we found out that Lorrimer had been working on a top-secret project related to nuclear power and his death could be linked to the project. However, before Dalgliesh could follow up on his suspicion, he was summoned to the Black Tower by the Home Office, where he had been called to take charge of the investigation. The Black Tower, a sinister and foreboding fortress-like structure situated on the coast of Suffolk, is shrouded in secrecy and security. On arrival, Dalgliesh is greeted by Major Featherstone, who seems to be the sole occupant of the tower and in charge of the project Dr. Lorrimer was working on.

As Dalgliesh begins to probe the connection between Lorrimer's death, the mysterious Major Featherstone and The Black Tower, he is confronted with a series of unexpected occurrences, which make it clear that his own life is threatened. Imbued with an unwavering sense of purpose, Dalgliesh is determined to unravel the mystery of The Black Tower and to bring to justice the perpetrator of Lorrimer's murder.

The episode ends with Dalgliesh and Major Featherstone exchanging words, each clearly suspicious of the other. Meanwhile, the viewer is left to wonder what secrets are being kept hidden within the walls of The Black Tower, and if Dalgliesh will be able to solve the case before it is too late.
