Upon request by Jen, Judy takes the time to clean up the aftermath of Ted getting hit. They have a little bout of digging through Ted's photo albums, but Ted's brother interrupts them before a lot can be uncovered. Judy seems a bit shady when talking with Ted's brother.
Jen is shown at the supermarket, where she sees an older couple with two cans of tuna in their basket, causing her to have a sudden breakdown. She then goes to the store's alcohol section but decides to not drink and leaves. Later, she and Judy visit the car dealership where Steve got his car from to see if they can find any information on him.
Jen and her family go to grief counseling where she expresses her anger and frustration with how people try to console her. When Julie's counselor asks her to draw her feelings about Steve's death, she ends up drawing a picture of Steve in a casket with her standing alone in a storm. Jen is later seen driving past Steve's house at night and breaking into a shed on his property, crying while holding one of his suits in her arms.
Jen and Judy go to a gallery opening where they see an upsetting painting, leading Jen to sum up her feelings about Steve's death to Judy while walking back to their car. After a lot of thought, they both pay a visit to Ted's family, where Jen discovers a crucial piece of information about Steve.
Jen and Ted's neighbor, Karen, throws a block party which puts Jen on edge since she can't stand not being in control. She ends up urinating on Karen's lawn due to Karen's dog urinating on hers. Later, at the party, Judy causes a scene when Steve's son comes to the event.
Jen ends up having Karl install a security system for her house and they end up sleeping together. When Jen discovers that Ted's brother is actually a private investigator, she finds out that Ted was having an affair. She confronts Steve's mistress and ends up following her to the coffee shop where she works.
The episode ends with a flashback of Steve telling Judy about his plan to open a facility for recovering addicts.
