The show Deadwind is a Finnish crime drama series that airs on Netflix. The show follows the story of Sofia Karppi, a Finnish police detective who investigates a string of murders in Helsinki. Season 1 has 12 episodes, each one with a gripping and engaging storyline. In this description, we will be discussing episode 4 of season 1, titled Kaappaus.
In Kaappaus, Karppi is still working on the case of Anna's murder, with her team, Sakari Nurmi and Kimmo Numminen. The episode begins with the team interrogating Mikko, the manager of Anna's construction site, who previously had a romantic relationship with Anna. Meanwhile, Karppi also has to deal with her personal life, as she struggles to communicate with her children, who are still grieving over the death of their father.
As they continue to investigate, the team discovers a connection between Anna and the Minister of Economic Affairs, Alex Hoikkala. They find out that Hoikkala is planning to build a new high-speed rail line, and Anna's project is part of it. They visit Hoikkala's office to ask him about his relationship with Anna, but he denies any involvement in her murder.
Later on, Nurmi and Numminen visit Anna's former colleague, Henri, who is working on another construction site. Henri tells them about this "ghost worker" who was present on Anna's construction site and was using someone else's name. As they leave Henri's site, they notice a van leaving, and Numminen recognizes its license plate. They follow the van and discover that it belongs to Oskari, a friend of Henri's and a worker at Anna's site.
The team manages to locate Oskari and interrogates him, but he denies any involvement in Anna's murder. He tells the team that he only pretended to be the "ghost worker" because he was afraid of losing his job. While they are talking to Oskari, they receive a call from Hoikkala's office informing them that his assistant, Harri Haavisto, wants to talk to them.
Within a few minutes, the team arrives at Hoikkala's office. They discover that Harri is involved in Anna's murder and had coerced Oskari into pretending to be the ghost worker. Harri tells them that he killed Anna because she knew too much about the corruption within the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
In the final moments of the episode, Karppi gets a call from her lawyer, who informs her that she has finally won custody of her children. But just when things start looking up for Karppi, she receives an anonymous call from someone claiming to know something about her husband's death.
Kaappaus is a gripping episode of Deadwind that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The team's investigation leads them to an unexpected suspect in the murder case, highlighting the depth of corruption in government. The episode also adds to Karppi's character development, as she balances her personal life with her demanding job as a detective. Overall, this episode is well-directed, well-written, and enjoyable to watch, making it a must-see for lovers of crime dramas.
