Dear White People is a television series on Netflix that originally premiered in 2017. The show is based on the 2014 film of the same name and follows a group of black students at a fictional Ivy League college as they navigate racial tensions on and off campus. This description will be for season 1, episode 5 titled "Chapter V."

Chapter V focuses on Reggie Green, a young black student at Winchester University. The episode opens with Reggie at a party, where he meets a white girl named Alison. The two hit it off, and Reggie invites her back to his dorm room. However, just as things are getting intimate, Alison makes a racially insensitive comment that sets Reggie off. He becomes angry and asks her to leave.

The next day, Reggie is still reeling from the encounter. He confides in his friend Joelle, who encourages him to talk to someone about it. Reggie decides to seek out the help of the campus therapist, Dr. Gregory. Dr. Gregory is a white man who has made a name for himself by writing about the psychology of racism. Reggie is hesitant at first, but Dr. Gregory assures him that he is there to listen and help.

Over the course of their session, Reggie opens up about his experiences as a black man in America. He talks about his fear of being pulled over by the police, of being judged because of the color of his skin. Dr. Gregory listens attentively, but when Reggie brings up the incident with Alison, things take a turn. Dr. Gregory reveals that he knows Alison personally and believes that she is not racist. He suggests that Reggie may be overreacting and that his anger is misplaced.

Reggie is taken aback by Dr. Gregory's response. He feels like his experiences are being minimized and that his anger is not being validated. He leaves the session feeling frustrated and unheard.

Meanwhile, Sam is continuing her investigation into the blackface party. She visits the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, Silvio, and asks to see the photos from the party. Silvio is hesitant to show her, but eventually agrees. As she looks through the photos, Sam realizes that there are some missing. She confronts Silvio, who admits that he deleted them because he didn't want anyone to get in trouble.

Sam is outraged. She feels like Silvio is complicit in the racism on campus by covering it up. She decides to write an article exposing him and the rest of the administration for their lack of action.

As the episode comes to a close, Reggie is still struggling to process his emotions. He goes to the library and starts reading a book about the history of racism in America. As he reads, his frustration turns to anger, and he lashes out by destroying a nearby window.

Chapter V is a powerful episode that explores the complexities of racism and the toll it takes on individuals. It highlights the importance of listening to and validating the experiences of marginalized groups and shows the dangerous consequences of dismissing them. Through Reggie's journey, viewers are reminded of the very real and very painful impact of racism on people's lives.
