Dickinson is a TV series that revolves around the life of poet Emily Dickinson. The show portrays a fictionalized version of Emily Dickinson's life, with an emphasis on her quest for individuality and personal growth. Season 2 Episode 6 is titled 'Split the Lark.'

In this episode, Emily Dickinson (played by Hailee Steinfeld) continues to struggle with her creative block and her feelings of isolation. She feels confined by her gender, her societal responsibilities, and her family's expectations of her. However, her spirit is reignited when she receives a letter from her good friend, Sue Gilbert (played by Ella Hunt). Sue invites Emily to join her in Washington, D.C. for a trip, and Emily sees this as an opportunity to escape her routine and explore the world.

Emily's father, Edward Dickinson (played by Toby Huss), is apprehensive about her going to Washington as he feels that it is not a suitable place for women. But Emily insists on going, and her brother, Austin, agrees to accompany her on the journey. The trip to Washington is eventful, and Emily is fascinated by the sights and sounds of the city. She is particularly impressed by the Capitol Building and the statues of the heroic men who fought to create the country. Emily also discovers a new passion for photography, and she spends most of her time exploring the city and taking pictures.

While Emily is in Washington, her sister, Lavinia (played by Anna Baryshnikov), experiences her own personal struggles back home. She is torn between her love for her fiancé, and her desire for independence and autonomy. She feels that she is not ready to get married and settles her confusion by throwing herself into her work. She decides to write her own play, and she enlists the help of her brother Austin, and his friend, Henry (played by Chinaza Uche), to produce the play. The play is a great success, and Lavinia is thrilled by the positive feedback she receives.

Meanwhile, Emily's friend, Sue, is struggling with her own personal demons. She is still in love with Emily, but her marriage to Austin is causing her great pain. She is torn between her loyalty to her husband and her feelings for Emily. Sue is also dealing with her unresolved grief over the death of her baby. She confides in Emily about her struggles, and Emily tries to comfort her. However, their conversation is interrupted when Emily receives a letter from her father, urging her to return home.

Emily returns home, feeling reinvigorated and inspired. She has a newfound love for photography and poetry, and she is eager to continue exploring her creative passions. She is also more determined than ever to break free from the limitations placed on her by society and her family. The episode ends on a hopeful note, with Emily and Sue exchanging letters and promising to continue supporting each other in their journeys of self-discovery.

All in all, 'Split the Lark' is a poignant and engaging episode that offers a deep insight into the lives of the characters. It explores themes of love, loss, creativity, and individuality, and leaves the audience with a renewed sense of hope and inspiration.
