In Dino Dana season 2 episode 12 titled "Dino Kitty/Dino, It's Cold Outside," Dana learns about the connection between cats and dinosaurs while she takes care of a neighbor's cat. The episode starts with Dana wandering around her neighborhood, looking for something exciting to do. Suddenly, her neighbor's cat, Mr. Purrkins, runs out of the house and straight into Dana's arms.

As she was playing with Mr. Purrkins, Dana realizes the resemblance between the feline and certain kinds of prehistoric creatures. She decides to investigate the link between cats and dinosaurs. She talks to her sister, Saara, about it, and Saara suggests that Dana investigate what domesticated cats looked like in the time of the dinosaurs.

Dana starts to research the topic and discovers that some dinosaurs, such as the velociraptor, had elongated ankle bones, as well as toe bones that pointed inward. She also notices that Mr. Purrkins has retractable claws which are similar to a velociraptor's long, sharp claws. Dana then decides to make a drawing of what a dinosaur cat would look like.

Later on, Dana encounters a bearded dragon lizard and discovers that it is a pet as well. As she examines it, she realizes that many prehistoric creatures had similar defense mechanisms, such as the ankylosaurus – a dinosaur with layers of bony armor on its back, and the bearded dragon lizard, which puffs out its spiny throat to ward off predators.

After the encounter, Dana returns home and creates some armor for Mr. Purrkins – a vest made out of cardboard and egg cartons. Excited at the prospect of her pet looking like a dinosaur, Dana takes Mr. Purrkins to Saara's room to show her. Saara is not impressed, and Dana gets defensive, insisting that Mr. Purrkins is now the coolest cat in the world.

As the day wears on, Dana learns about how dinosaurs adapted to different environments, such as cold weather. She goes outside with her father to gather firewood, and as they walk, Dana finds some dinosaur tracks in the snow. Her father tells her that many dinosaurs were able to withstand cold environments, such as the edmontosaurus, which migrated northward to survive the harsh winters.

Dana then decides to build a shelter for Mr. Purrkins outside so that he can enjoy the snow. She builds the structure, but soon realizes that it is too cold for Mr. Purrkins to be out there. She then decides to make a bed for him inside the house.

In the end, Dana learns that there are many similarities between modern-day cats and some prehistoric creatures. She also realizes that dinosaurs were able to adapt to different environments through migration and other evolutionary mechanisms. The episode ends with Dana and her family enjoying a snowball fight outside while Mr. Purrkins watches from the windowsill.

Overall, in Dino Dana season 2 episode 12, Dana explores the connection between cats and dinosaurs, while also learning about how dinosaurs adapted to cold environments. The episode is informative and entertaining for kids and adults alike, and it is a great addition to the already impressive show.
