Don't Forget the Driver is a British dark-comedy television series about a coach driver named Peter Green, who lives in a small seaside town with his daughter Kayla. The show follows Peter as he navigates the ups and downs of his mundane life and the drama that unfolds around him.
In the first episode of the show, we are introduced to Peter as he goes about his daily routine of driving a coach full of senior citizens on a day trip to a local attraction. Despite the somewhat monotonous nature of his job, Peter takes pride in his work and goes above and beyond to make sure his passengers are comfortable.
As the day progresses, we see that Peter's life is far from perfect. He struggles to make ends meet and is constantly on the brink of financial ruin. His relationship with his daughter is strained, and he has unresolved issues with his ex-wife, who left him to start a new life in another country.
Despite these challenges, Peter tries to maintain a positive attitude and tries to find some joy in the small moments of his life. He strikes up a friendship with a new co-worker named Squeaky Dave, who is equally down on his luck but has a contagious enthusiasm for life that Peter finds refreshing.
As the coach trip comes to an end, Peter's day takes a dramatic turn when he discovers a lone refugee hiding in the back of the coach. The young man, who speaks little English, is desperately trying to make his way to London to be reunited with his family.
Peter is torn between his duty to turn the refugee over to the authorities and his desire to help him in any way he can. Ultimately, Peter decides to help the young man and sets out on a dangerous journey to try and get him to safety.
Throughout the episode, we see Peter's resilience and his determination to do the right thing, even in the face of overwhelming adversity. We also see the subtle ways in which his actions affect those around him, as he inspires others to be their best selves and to never give up hope.
Don't Forget the Driver is a quirky, poignant, and ultimately uplifting show about the power of human connection and the ability of ordinary people to make a difference in the world. With its sharp writing, brilliant cast, and offbeat sense of humor, this is a show that will have you laughing, crying, and cheering all at the same time.
