In this episode of Drinking Made Easy, host Zane Lamprey and his team set their sights on Portland, Maine, a city known for its craft beer and seafood. They start off their adventure at The Thirsty Pig, a local hot spot that serves up gourmet sausages and a wide selection of local brews. At the bar, Zane and his team learn about the history of brewing in Portland and sample some of the bar's standout brews.
Next, the team visits Novare Res Bier Cafe, which Zane describes as "a mecca for beer lovers." The bar boasts an extensive selection of Belgian beers, as well as a selection of local brews. Zane and his team get a taste of some of the unique offerings on the menu, including a smoked cherry sour beer and a coffee-infused porter.
Moving on, the team visits Rising Tide Brewing Company, a local brewery that sources all of its ingredients locally. Zane and his team tour the brewery and learn about the brewing process before sampling some of the beers on tap, including a coffee porter and a Belgian witbier.
The team then heads to Eventide Oyster Co., a popular seafood spot known for its lobster rolls and raw bar. Zane and his team get a taste of the restaurant's famous lobster rolls and sample some of the freshest oysters on the East Coast, paired with local brews.
Finally, the team visits Shipyard Brewing Company, one of the largest breweries in Maine. Zane and his team get a behind-the-scenes look at the brewery and learn about the process of making one of the brewery's most popular beers, Pumpkinhead Ale. They also sample some of the other beers on tap, including the export stout and a blueberry wheat beer.
Throughout the episode, Zane and his team showcase the vibrant craft beer scene and seafood offerings in Portland, Maine, and demonstrate how the two are often paired together for a truly authentic taste of the city.
