Earth To Luna is an educational and entertaining show for children that explores science, astronomy, and technology through the eyes of a curious six-year-old girl named Luna. In season 3 episode 23 titled Set in Stone, Luna and her little brother Jupiter go on a thrilling adventure to the mountains to discover the secrets of ancient rock formations.

The episode begins with Luna and Jupiter reading a book about rocks and minerals when they come across a picture of a mountain with strange jagged rocks sticking out of it. Luna immediately becomes curious about what those rocks are and why they look different from others. She decides to ask her parents, who explain that the rocks are called “hoodoos” and they’re formed by erosion over millions of years.

Luna and Jupiter are fascinated by the idea of millions of years passing by and decide to go to the mountains to learn more about these hoodoos. They pack their bags, wave goodbye to their parents, and hop on a bus to the mountains.

As they arrive, they notice the steep slopes and jagged cliffs all around them, and Luna declares that they will climb to the top of the highest mountain to get a better view. Along the way, they see animals like mountain goats and marmots and explore different types of rocks and minerals that they find on the ground.

When they finally reach the top, they see the most amazing view they’ve ever seen. They can see for miles and miles, and Luna points to the hoodoos they had seen in the book, now looming far below. She wants to know more about how they were formed, so they decide to go down the mountain and investigate.

As they get closer to the hoodoos, they see that they were made by layers of rock and sediment being deposited over hundreds of millions of years, each layer being harder than the one below it. Over time, the layers have been lifted up and eroded away, leaving behind the tall and unique formations they see today.

Luna and Jupiter are amazed at all they’ve learned and can’t wait to tell their parents about their adventure. They climb back up to the top of the mountain and look out over the valley once again, realizing how much knowledge is out there waiting to be discovered.

Set in Stone is a heartwarming and informative episode about the beauty and complexity of nature. It encourages children to explore the world around them, ask questions, and learn as much as they can about the wonders of science and our planet. It’s a must-see for anyone who loves nature and wants to inspire the next generation of curious scientists and adventurers.
