Engine Masters is back with a brand new episode, "Manifold Shootout for the Carbureted LS Crowd," and the season 7 premiere promises to be an action-packed ride for car and racing enthusiasts.

In this episode, the team at Engine Masters is hunting for the perfect intake manifold for those who prefer carburetors over fuel injection systems – specifically for the increasingly popular LS engine. They'll be testing out a variety of carbureted intake manifolds across four different engine platforms: a 5.3-liter LM7, a 6.0-liter LQ9, a 6.2-liter LS3, and a 7.0-liter LS7.

First up is the 5.3-liter LM7, which has been bored out to 347 cubic inches. This engine is low on compression, but the team is looking to maximize its potential by finding the best intake manifold for it. The first test includes a cast-iron Performer RPM intake, which the team knows works well on the low end but struggles at higher RPMs. They'll be testing it against an Edelbrock Super Victor 4150, a popular racing intake that's good for high horsepower motors like this one. Which one will come out on top?

Next up is the 6.0-liter LQ9, which has been stroked to 408 cubic inches. This engine already has a good intake manifold, but the team wants to see if they can find one that improves upon its performance. They'll be testing a Holley Strip Dominator intake, which is known for its impressive top-end power, against an Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT, a highly regarded EFI intake that they think might work well with this carbureted engine. Will this combination work to create a winning performance?

The third engine in the lineup is the 6.2-liter LS3, which has been enlarged to 416 cubic inches. This motor has a high compression ratio, so the team will be looking for an intake manifold that works well with that. They will be testing an Edelbrock Air Gap intake, which is known to work well on high compression engines, against an Edelbrock Victor Jr. EFI intake, a popular choice with EFI systems. Will the carbureted motor be able to handle the Victor Jr.?

Finally, the team will test the monstrous 7.0-liter LS7, which has been bumped up to 600 cubic inches. This engine has already been fitted with a Holley Super Victor intake, which is known to work well on high horsepower engines. However, the team wants to push it even further by testing it against a Holley Strip Dominator intake, which they believe may provide even more power. Will the Holley Super Victor remain the king of the mountain, or will the Holley Strip Dominator take the crown?

Throughout the episode, the team will analyze the dyno results for each engine, looking at torque and horsepower curves, peak power levels, and more. They'll be looking to see which intake manifold creates the most power and at what RPMs. They'll also give insights into how the intake manifolds work with various engine components, such as camshafts, carburetors, and cylinder heads.

"Manifold Shootout for the Carbureted LS Crowd" promises to be a thrilling episode of Engine Masters, packed with insights and information for car enthusiasts and mechanics alike. If you're a fan of engines, horsepower, and automotive performance, don't miss this must-watch episode of Engine Masters.
