When Cocoa McKellan gets laid off from her job in Seattle, her husband Moz, a former professional football player and coach, suggests they move their family back to his hometown of Columbus, Georgia to reconnect with his family. The McKellans, including their four children Jade, Shaka, Mazzi, and Ami, arrive at the sprawling home owned by Moz's parents, M'Dear and Grandpa, ready to settle in for their summer vacation and reconnect with their relatives.

Upon arrival, the family is greeted by M'Dear's strict rules, which include no outside food and beverages allowed in the house and no cell phones at the dinner table. With everyone under one roof and the kids looking to have some fun, they try to bend the rules, but soon learn M'Dear is not one to be trifled with.

Meanwhile, Moz reconnects with his high school best friend, Rodney, although their relationship is quickly put to the test when Rodney's son and Moz's son, Shaka, get into a fight. While Moz tries to teach his son the importance of standing up for himself, Rodney struggles with how to handle his own son's behavior.

As the family settles into their new surroundings, they also grapple with underlying tensions and unresolved issues from the past, including Moz's strained relationship with his brother, Daniel, and Jade's feelings of insecurity about her artistic abilities.

With M'Dear at the helm, the family comes together to navigate their challenges and rediscover the importance of connection and love in their family reunion.
