In Fargo season 2 episode 8 titled "Loplop," tensions continue to rise between the Gerhardts and the Kansas City mafia as the two crime families try to take control of the midwestern territory. In the beginning of the episode, Dodd Gerhardt (Jeffrey Donovan) is being held captive by Kansas City syndicate member Mike Milligan (Bokeem Woodbine) and his cronies. Dodd tries to bargain with Milligan to let him go by offering one of his own men to be killed instead, but Milligan sees through his manipulation and decides to play a mind game to try to break Dodd's spirit.

Meanwhile, Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson) and Hank Larsson (Ted Danson) continue their investigation into the Waffle Hut shooting, where a group of innocent bystanders were caught in the crossfire between the Gerhardts and the Kitchen brothers. They interview survivors and witnesses, and Lou starts to suspect that there's more to the shooting than meets the eye. He also begins to piece together a connection between the Gerhardt family and the unsolved massacre at Sioux Falls that he was involved in years ago.

As the Gerhardts prepare for a violent confrontation with the Kansas City mafia, Peggy Blomquist (Kirsten Dunst) and her husband Ed (Jesse Plemons) are still on the run with state trooper Lou's colleague, Ben Schmidt (Keir O'Donnell), in their trunk. Peggy is feeling increasingly unhinged and paranoid, and she starts to have visions of an imaginary friend named Loplop, a bird-man creature from a surrealist painting. Loplop encourages Peggy to embrace her true nature as a survivor and to disregard the societal norms that are holding her back.

Back at the Gerhardt compound, tensions reach a boiling point as the two crime families come face to face for a final showdown. The episode ends with a series of shocking twists and turns that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

Overall, Fargo season 2 episode 8 is a tense and thrilling installment in the series that showcases the best elements of the show's unique blend of violence and dark humor. With top-notch performances from the ensemble cast and a twisting, turning plotline, "Loplop" is sure to satisfy fans of the show.
