Ep 1. Monster

In "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 episode 1 titled "Monster", the group of survivors who escaped from Los Angeles by sailing on a yacht are now out at sea facing new challenges. As they try to find a safe place to dock and resupply, they come across a mysterious stranger that might pose a threat to their safety. Throughout the episode, we see flashbacks to the events immediately following their escape from Los Angeles. We learn that Strand, the enigmatic owner of the yacht, has a plan to sail to a compound in Mexico that he believes will be safer than staying on the open sea. The group is hesitant to trust him, but he promises to keep them safe in exchange for their help in sailing the yacht.

The episode ends with the group encountering another boat that is seemingly abandoned. They decide to board it and take supplies, but soon realize that the boat's occupants are still on board and are hostile. A tense standoff ensues with the group trying to avoid violence, but ultimately being forced to defend themselves.

"Monster" sets the stage for the rest of season 2, which sees the group navigating the dangers of life on the open sea while also trying to retain their humanity in the face of the horrors they've experienced.
