First Dates (Canada) Season 2 Episode 2 A Gentleman Always Pays

The second episode of the second season of First Dates (Canada) is called "A Gentleman Always Pays." In this episode, viewers will get to watch as a new set of hopeful singles sit down for their first date at a fancy restaurant in Vancouver.

The first potential couple we meet are Nicole, a 25-year-old from Toronto, and Evan, a 27-year-old from Vancouver. Nicole is a self-proclaimed "foodie" and is excited to try out this high-end restaurant, while Evan is nervous but looking forward to hopefully meeting someone special. The two seem to hit it off right away, with Nicole complimenting Evan's suit and Evan laughing at Nicole's puns. They chat about their careers (Nicole is a digital marketing specialist while Evan works in finance), their hobbies (Evan loves playing and watching basketball while Nicole is a big fan of hiking), and their families. The date seems to be going well until the bill arrives, and a discussion about who should pay ensues.

Next up are Stephanie, a 24-year-old from Calgary, and Andrew, a 29-year-old from Vancouver. Stephanie is excited to be trying out a new restaurant and is looking for a tall, handsome man who can make her laugh. Andrew is nervous but confident, and his smile seems to win Stephanie over right away. They talk about their love of travel (Stephanie has been backpacking all over the world, while Andrew has traveled extensively for work), their families, and their careers (Stephanie works in advertising while Andrew is a real estate agent). When the bill arrives, both seem to think it's a no-brainer that Andrew will pay, but an awkward moment arises when Stephanie offers to go Dutch.

The third couple features Amber, a 26-year-old from Vancouver, and Rafael, a 28-year-old from Toronto. Both seem a little nervous at first, but quickly settle into an easy conversation. They talk about their families (Rafael is very close to his sister and Amber is a twin), their hobbies (Rafael loves dancing while Amber is a singer), and their goals (Amber wants to become a music therapist while Rafael dreams of opening his own dance studio). When the bill arrives, Rafael insists on paying, but a conversation about gender roles in dating sparks an interesting dialogue between the two.

Finally, we meet Mafalda, a 35-year-old from Vancouver who is originally from Portugal, and William, a 28-year-old from Toronto. Mafalda is a single mom who likes to keep things simple, while William is a hardworking guy who hasn't had the best luck with love. They bond over their shared love of dogs (William has a bulldog named Winston while Mafalda owns a rescued Chihuahua named Benji), their families (both are very close to their parents), and their careers (William is a sous chef while Mafalda works in human resources). When the bill arrives, William insists on paying, but Mafalda's traditional Portuguese values make her feel uneasy.

Throughout the episode, we get to see each couple navigate the tricky waters of dating etiquette and try to figure out what the other person is thinking. Will any of them hit it off and decide to go on a second date, or will they decide that this first date was their last? Tune in to find out!
