- April 6, 2017
First Dates Ireland is back for its highly anticipated second season, bringing a mix of nervous singles, hopeful romantics, and unexpected connections. Episode 12 features five new couples searching for something special.
The first potential match of the night is nursing student Sophie from Dublin and Kildare businessman Kevin. From the start, it’s clear that Kevin is a talker, but his energy is perhaps too much for Sophie who seems slightly overwhelmed. Will Kevin’s enthusiasm be too much for Sophie to handle, or will they find common ground?
Next up is chef and bar manager Sarah, hoping to find someone who shares her passion for food and wine. She’s paired with Donegal local, property manager Padraig, who seems similarly interested in the culinary arts. But as the conversation shifts from food to personal life, things get a bit more awkward. Will Sarah and Padraig be able to move past their differences?
Third to arrive are Lauren, an HR administrator from Kildare, and Sean, a musician from Dublin. Both seem nervous, but their mutual love of music immediately puts them at ease. However, as they delve deeper into their individual experiences with relationships, they both reveal some longstanding trust issues. Can Lauren and Sean break free from their past patterns and find a spark?
The fourth couple is made up of history student Jana from Limerick and Dublin construction worker James. Jana is looking for someone who shares her eclectic tastes, while James wants a woman who can keep up with him. Although there are some initial nerves, Jana and James quickly find a common bond in their love of animals. But is that enough to sustain a true connection?
Last to arrive for the evening are Karen, an events coordinator from Dublin, and Killarney native Barry, a sports broadcaster. Both Karen and Barry are looking for someone with whom they can have a good laugh, and their easy banter puts them both at ease. But as they get to know each other better, they discover some significant differences in their personalities. Will those differences prove insurmountable, or is there potential for a more meaningful connection?
Throughout the evening, the patrons of the First Dates restaurant observe each other’s interactions and give their own input on whether each couple has potential. Some couples seem more promising than others, but as the night draws to a close, it remains to be seen who will go on a second date and who will be heading home alone.
