- February 28, 2019
First Dates Ireland is a reality TV programme that brings together singletons from across the country to find love and companionship. The show's fourth season is now in full swing, and in episode 8, we see another batch of hopeful romantics put themselves out there in search of their soulmate.
As always, the episode begins with the sprightly host, radio presenter and DJ, Melanie Finn, welcoming us to the show and introducing us to some of tonight's daters. First up is Dubliner, Jay, who's been single for over a year and is looking to meet someone with whom he can share his passion for travel and adventure. Enter his match, Alex, a bubbly personal trainer from Dublin who loves to laugh and has a soft spot for men with beards. Will Jay's beard seal the deal with Alex, or will she lose interest when she hears about his travel plans?
Next, we meet Cork man, James, a burly builder who's ready to leave the world of online dating behind and find someone he can connect with on a deeper level. James' match is 22-year-old Nicole, a confident and outgoing makeup artist from Wicklow. Initially, the two seem to hit it off quite well, with Nicole admiring James' hunky build and fondness for country music. But will their age difference and different lifestyles be too much to overcome?
The third couple to brave the First Dates restaurant is Kerry native, Michelle, a single mother of three who's excited to get back into the dating scene. Michelle is matched with 25-year-old Ciaran, a young musician from Dublin who's never been in a long-term relationship before. Despite their age difference, the two seem to have a lot in common, with Michelle admiring Ciaran's creativity and sensitive side. But will Ciaran be ready to take on the role of a stepdad, or will Michelle's kids be a dealbreaker?
Fourth on tonight's menu is Belfast woman, Sinead, a farmer's daughter who's looking for a good-humoured man who can make her laugh. Enter Louth man, Adrian, a charismatic dance teacher who's no stranger to playing the field. The two seem to hit it off quite well, with Sinead admiring Adrian's positive outlook on life and his willingness to try new things. But will Adrian be able to put his playboy ways behind him and commit to a serious relationship with Sinead, or will his wandering eye be too much to handle?
Last but not least, we meet Dubliner, Eoin, a graphic designer who's looking for someone who's kind and genuine. Eoin's match is North Carolina native, Madison, a young American teacher who's new to Ireland and looking to explore the local dating scene. Both Eoin and Madison seem nervous at first, with Madison admitting that she's never been on a blind date before. But as the night goes on, the two start to relax and open up to each other, with Eoin admiring Madison's intelligence and Madison admiring Eoin's artistic skills.
Overall, episode 8 of First Dates Ireland is a heartwarming and entertaining look at love in the 21st century, with a diverse cast of daters who prove that there's someone out there for everyone. From country bumpkins to city slickers, from farmers to creatives, there's a match for every type on this popular dating show. So if you're looking for a feel-good programme that will make you laugh, cry, and maybe even believe in love again, First Dates Ireland is the show for you.
