- January 9, 2020
Season 5 of First Dates Ireland kicks off with episode 1, where hopeful singles from all over the country come to the First Dates restaurant in search of love. Hosted by radio presenter and TV personality, Maitre D' Mateo Saina, the series is set in a chic Dublin restaurant where strangers are paired together for a potentially life-changing blind date.
First up is Michelle, a 32-year-old hairdresser from Wexford who has been single for over a year and is looking for a genuine connection. Michelle is matched with 30-year-old Limerick native, James, a musician who has been unlucky in love. The pair hit it off immediately, bonding over their shared love of music and Irish culture. But will their connection be enough to overcome their nerves and past heartaches?
Next is 23-year-old personal trainer, Oisin, who is eager to settle down and find someone to share his life with. He is paired with Sasha, a 22-year-old nursing student from Dublin who is looking for a good-hearted guy with a sense of humor. The couple's chemistry is palpable from the start, with Oisin's sparkling personality and Sasha's striking beauty making for an instant attraction. But as the night goes on, will their differences prove too great to overcome?
Also looking for love is 32-year-old bartender Ryan, who lives in Dublin and is searching for a girl that shares his interests. His date, 26-year-old musician Laura, is from Donegal and is looking for someone creative to light up her life. Despite a rough start, with Ryan accidentally calling Laura by the wrong name, the pair hit it off over their shared love of music and their quick-witted personalities. But can Ryan stay cool under pressure as the date heats up?
Finally, there is 37-year-old yoga teacher Emma, who has been single for six years and is ready to let love back into her life. Emma is paired with bubbly 39-year-old mother-of-two Fiona from Limerick, who is looking for someone to share her love of the great outdoors. The two women bond over their love of yoga and mutual respect for each other's independence. But as the date progresses, will they find the chemistry they are both looking for?
As the evening draws to a close, the daters must decide if they want to see each other again or call it a night. With emotions running high and the possibility of a meaningful connection on the horizon, the stakes could not be higher. For the daters on this episode, it's a night of highs, lows, and unexpected surprises that will make them laugh, cry, and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
