This documentary series takes us to just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Formerly a prosperous community, the steel mills are long gone. There are few jobs now but the love of football remains an integral part of the culture here. As the home of football greats like Joe Montana, Mike Ditka, Joe Namath and Johnny Unitas, Western Pennsylvania is a natural choice for a television show about a Youth Football League. Each of these Friday Night Tykes aspire to be as good at football as their idols, maybe even better. The Mighty Mite division consists of ten and eleven year old aspiring football heroes who live, breath and sleep football. It connects the neighboring communities while also dividing them with competitive spirit. Whole families rally around the team and gather to cheer them on at every game. The coaches and parents of the miniature future legends, though sometimes over zealous in their encouragement to win, try to make the best decisions for the kids they are in charge of. This series is definitely about more than just football, it's about doing your best in every situation. The lessons learned on the football field can stay with these young heroes for all their lives.
