Ep 4. A Fuel's Errand

Josh Futturman is a hapless janitor by day and even more hapless gamer by night, until he’s recruited by mysterious visitors to travel through time in order to prevent the extinction of humanity. In episode four of Future Man, entitled “A Fuel’s Errand,” Josh finds himself on a mission to steal fuel for their time machine.

The episode begins with Josh, Tiger, and Wolf breaking into a high-security warehouse to find a container of Nitrazene - a super-fuel essential for their time machine. However, the container they find is empty, meaning they’ll have to find another one before their time runs out.

Their search leads them to a bar, where they come across a man named Skarsgard. He claims to be a retired mercenary with access to the Nitrazene they need, but only if they help him complete one final job. The trio agrees, and they’re off to Skarsgard’s former employer’s lair to steal a valuable briefcase.

Once they arrive at the lair, Josh is tasked with keeping watch over an unconscious guard while Tiger and Wolf search for the briefcase. Josh struggles to keep up appearances as a guard, and things only get more complicated when a former high school friend of his shows up - one who’s now apparently working as a guard at the lair.

While Josh tries to convince his friend that he’s new to the job and doesn’t know what’s going on, the guard wakes up and a fight breaks out. Josh manages to subdue the guard, but not before he and his friends are discovered. They escape with the briefcase in tow, but not before Josh reveals his true identity to his former classmate.

Back at Skarsgard’s bar, the group discovers that the briefcase they’ve stolen is booby-trapped. They manage to disarm the explosive, but the briefcase has already been destroyed. Fortunately, Skarsgard has a backup plan - he reveals that he knows where they can find a Nitrazene shipment that’s being transported by train.

The episode’s climax takes place on the train, where Josh, Tiger, and Wolf attempt to steal the Nitrazene without getting caught. They’re successful, but not before a shootout occurs and Tiger and Wolf are both injured. Josh manages to get them and the fuel back to their time machine, but not before being confronted by a mysterious figure who warns them that they’re playing with forces they don’t understand.

Overall, “A Fuel’s Errand” is a fast-paced and action-packed episode that sees Josh and his friends facing off against seemingly insurmountable obstacles. While the show’s time-travel concept can be a little confusing at times, the episode does a good job of keeping the action moving and maintaining its sense of humor throughout. Fans of sci-fi and action-comedy will likely enjoy this episode and the series as a whole.
