In the small Australian town of Yoorana, a group of people are mysteriously resurrected from the dead and emerge from their graves in a local cemetery. Sergeant James Hayes, the police officer on duty that night, is shocked when he discovers the group alive and confused. Among the group is his own wife, Kate, who had died from cancer two years prior.

As the group wanders around the town, disoriented and unable to remember anything, James struggles to keep the situation under control and figure out what is going on. He brings them to a nearby doctor, Elishia McKellar, who seems to know more about the situation than she lets on.

Meanwhile, rumors begin to spread throughout the town and media outlets quickly catch wind of the story. James must keep the group hidden and protected while dealing with reporters and skeptics who believe the situation is a hoax or some kind of government conspiracy.
