Set in 1980s Los Angeles, Glow follows the journey of Ruth Wilder (played by Alison Brie), a struggling actress who is chasing her dream of becoming a star. After auditioning for a new TV show called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW), she finds herself part of an unconventional and colorful cast of women who are learning to embrace their inner strength and take control of their lives. In season 1 episode 11, titled Avocado Egg Rolls, the women of GLOW are facing their biggest challenge yet as they prepare for their first televised match.

The episode starts with Ruth feeling anxious and uncertain about her upcoming match against Debbie Eagan (played by Betty Gilpin), her former best friend who is now her biggest rival in the ring. The tension between the two women is palpable as they exchange snarky comments and insults backstage. Meanwhile, the other members of GLOW are also dealing with their own issues. Carmen (played by Britney Young) is struggling to keep her wrestling persona, Machu Picchu, a secret from her family. Cherry (played by Sydelle Noel) is worried about her husband's reaction to her new career as a wrestler. And Sam (played by Marc Maron), the show's director, is dealing with a personal crisis that threatens to derail the entire production.

As the women get ready for their match, they are confronted with various obstacles and setbacks. The costumes are not fitting properly, the props are malfunctioning, and the script needs last-minute revisions. Ruth tries to keep her focus by rehearsing her moves with her new partner, Mark (played by Rich Sommer), but she can't shake her nerves. Debbie, on the other hand, is confident and determined to prove that she is the better wrestler. When the two finally meet in the ring, the audience is on the edge of their seats, waiting to see who will come out on top.

What follows is a thrilling and entertaining match that showcases the physical and emotional skills of the women of GLOW. The choreography is flawless, the music is catchy, and the audience is fully invested in the outcome. Throughout the match, there are moments of tension, comedy, and drama that keep viewers engaged. The Avocado Egg Rolls themselves don't appear on screen, but the women discuss their love for them in a funny and relatable scene.

As the match comes to a close, the women of GLOW are left to deal with the aftermath of their performance. Some feel proud of their achievements, while others are disappointed with their mistakes. Ruth and Debbie, in particular, have a heart-to-heart conversation that is both painful and cathartic. They confront their past issues and try to find a way to move forward. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers eager to see what will happen next.

Overall, Avocado Egg Rolls is a standout episode of Glow that encapsulates the show's unique blend of humor, heart, and wrestling. It features strong performances from the entire cast, as well as impressive production values that transport viewers back in time. It's a must-watch for fans of the series and a great introduction for newcomers.
