It's Cory's first day of school and he's a little nervous. He's getting ready in his garage with his family, who are all cars like him. His dad, Mama Carson, helps him practice his honking and his mom, Chrissy, gives him a goodbye hug. His little sister, Chrissy Jr., teases him about being scared.
Cory heads to school with his friend Freddie, driving through the bustling and colorful town of Bumperdome. They have to navigate through traffic and avoid getting stuck in a jam, but they finally arrive at school.
Cory is amazed by all the sights and sounds at school, from the playground to the classroom. He meets his teacher, Mr. Grouper, who is a big fish in a fishbowl. Mr. Grouper welcomes them to class and introduces them to the other students, who are all different kinds of animals like octopuses and dogs.
Cory is excited to make new friends and learn new things, but he's also nervous about fitting in. He tries to impress the other students by showing off his cool moves and honking his horn loudly, but it just makes him stand out even more.
Luckily, Freddie is there to help him out. They play together on the playground and find a common interest in building with blocks. They also meet a new friend, a shy little car named Gunt, who is too scared to talk to anyone else. Cory and Freddie help Gunt come out of his shell and join in the fun.
Throughout the day, Cory learns about all sorts of things, from shapes and numbers to sharing and taking turns. He also learns that it's okay to be yourself and that everyone is different in their own way.
At the end of the day, Cory is exhausted but happy. He rides home with Freddie and they talk about all the fun they had at school. When he gets home, his parents ask him how his first day went, and he excitedly tells them all about it.
As he drifts off to sleep, Cory knows that he has made some new friends and has a lot of exciting things to look forward to at school. He can't wait for tomorrow, and neither can we.
