In the first episode of GRANBLUE FANTASY The Animation season 1, we are introduced to the protagonist, Gran, who is living on the island of Zinkenstill along with his talking winged lizard-like creature, Vyrn. Gran dreams of traveling the world and discovering the mysteries that lay beyond his small island, and his chance finally comes when he encounters a mysterious girl named Lyria.

Lyria has escaped from the Erste Empire after being held captive, and is being pursued by soldiers who want her back. Gran and Vyrn decide to help Lyria and they embark on a journey towards the capital city of the island. Along the way, they encounter Leviathan, a powerful water dragon who threatens to destroy their ship.

Despite the danger, Gran and Vyrn refuse to abandon Lyria, and with her help, they are able to summon a powerful ally, the knight Katalina, who has been tasked with protecting Lyria. Katalina and her airship come to their rescue and they escape the wrath of Leviathan.

Despite being initially hesitant, Katalina recognizes Lyria as a valuable asset and decides to accompany them on their journey to discover the truth about her past and the power she possesses.

The first episode of GRANBLUE FANTASY The Animation season 1 does an excellent job of establishing the show's premise and introducing its main characters. The animation is gorgeous, and the action scenes are exciting and well choreographed. The episode also leaves viewers with several questions, including the origin of Lyria's powers and the motivations of the Erste Empire.

Overall, episode 1 of GRANBLUE FANTASY The Animation season 1 is an excellent introduction to the series and contains enough action, intrigue, and character development to make it an exciting watch for fans of fantasy adventure anime.
