Ep 2. The Gang Group Dates

In "The Gang Group Dates," the gang decides to try their hand at the world of online dating. Charlie, Mac, Dennis, and Dee each create their own online dating profiles, hoping to find love and companionship on the internet. Of course, things don't go quite as planned.

Charlie creates a bizarre profile, featuring photos of him dressed as his favorite fictional characters and a list of his hobbies that include "magnets" and "goblins." Mac, meanwhile, takes a more aggressive approach, bragging about his fighting skills and insisting that his ideal partner needs to show him "mad respect." Dennis, ever the narcissist, creates a profile that showcases his wealth, good looks, and supposed sexual prowess.

Dee, on the other hand, struggles to get any matches at all, which only serves to increase her insecurities. She decides to take matters into her own hands by pretending to be a successful businesswoman, complete with photoshopped pictures and a phony job title. It's not long before she's matched with an actual successful businessman, played by guest star Greg Dulli.

As the gang ventures out on their individual dates, chaos ensues. Charlie's date, played by Artemis Pebdani, is a complete disaster thanks to his bizarre behavior and utter lack of social graces. Mac's date, a vegan played by Jill Latiano, is horrified by his carnivorous habits and disgust with her diet. Dennis's date, played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis, quickly realizes that he's not all he's cracked up to be and tries to escape.

As for Dee, her date quickly figures out that she's not who she says she is. Rather than call her out, he decides to play along, pretending to be even more successful and wealthy than he actually is. The two engage in a hilarious game of one-upmanship, each trying to outdo the other with their fake stories and fabricated accomplishments.

Despite their best efforts, none of the gang members find true love on their group dates. However, they do manage to make a new enemy in the process: their waitress, played by Mary Lynn Rajskub, who is outraged that they would try to find love online rather than pursuing a real relationship with her.

"The Gang Group Dates" is a classic example of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's twisted sense of humor and biting satire. The characters' attempts at finding love online are both cringe-worthy and hilarious, as they each reveal their own particular brand of dysfunction and delusion. With a talented guest cast and plenty of laughs to be had, this episode is sure to please fans of the long-running series.
